Pekoe Trail Stage 3.
Loolkandura to Thawalantenna – 17.23km
The Pekoe Trail’s third stage begins at the small bridge over the Ma Oya on the Loolecondera Estate, near Tawalantenna CP in Nuwara Eliya. The 17.9-km point-to-point trail takes an average of 5 hours and 49 minutes to complete and is considered a challenging route, great for hiking and walking. This stage is currently under development and not yet signposted, but it’s walkable.
Along the march up you may encounter live wildlife and signs left behind.
Make sure to watch out for snakes and other creepy crawlies on your walk.
You may come across barking deer feeding peacefully and other signs of wildlife like porcupines, wild boar, and leopards.
The more you progress along the trail the more you realise it is not a very well-used trail at all as there may be certain sections that need to be bushwhacked to walk through.
