Hi Guys,
Who of you would like to go hiking in Sri Lanka?
There are many beautiful routes that you can discover alone or together. I would like to recommend a very special hiking trail to you.
The Pekoe Trail officially opened in 2022. It leads 300 km through mountains, forests, tea plantations, and villages in Sri Lanka. There are 22 stages with different levels of difficulty and distances from 9-19 km. You can hike the entire route or choose individual stages. Just how you want it. You get a lot of insight into the landscape and life in the mountains.
Yesterday it was time for me to prepare for this hike. Finally, in 2023, back in Sri Lanka was my first stay at the Pink House in Kandy. A quaint guesthouse that will only please the no-nonsense, hard-nosed backpacker. In the 80s and 90s THE meeting place for all Lonely Planet followers. My family came to pick me up.
Our next stop was completely different, the Jungle Tide in Uduwela. We had our own house with a kitchen, pool, and great wifi connection in an old tea plantation. Could be a great place to stay for a longer time.
On the way via Hanthana Road, passing the Ceylon Tea Museum and the start of the Pekoe Trail Stage no. 1. Hanthana mountain range to Galaha. This trail continues via Norwood, Horton Plains and Haputale to Ella, Demodera, Hali-Ela and finally to Pedro Estate at Nuwara Eliya.
